Week 353: Case 4

54 y.o. white female patient with Type I DM s/p renal/pancreas transplant in 1988, s/p renal transplant re-do in 2007. The patient presented with respiratory symptoms and had neutropenia and lymphopenia secondary to immunosuppression. Her hospital stay was complicated by UTI (E. coli) with ATN due to FK506 toxicity. She developed EBV viremia (treated with Acyclovir) and worsening respiratory functions with progressive pulmonary infiltrates. She underwent an open lung biopsy.
