Week 298: Case 3

The patient is a 74 year old Caucasian woman with a history of breast cancer, chronic esophageal strictures, S/P dilatation, Botox injections, recent episode of aspiration pneumonia and lower back pain. Imaging studies demonstrated a dilated esophagus and the patient underwent an Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy. Gross exam revealed a dilated distal esophagus with injected and focally eroded mucosa. No tumor was grossly identified.
